Protecting Your Business

Protecting your IT network infrastructure, and your company’s valuable data, is perhaps one of the most challenging issues facing business owners. Leading research firms have conducted numerous surveys and reports to establish the impacts of network outages to a business, as it’s about the impact of network outages, not the event itself which is important – it doesn’t make a difference if it’s a keystroke or a natural disaster that causes you to lose your information!

There is also massive internal pressures being placed on most IT networks, the greatest being growth in storage use. It has been estimated that annually a business sees upwards of 60% of compounded growth. It has also been estimated that most organizations will have ten times the data in 2011 than they do today.

Other challenges that businesses face with their data management is:

  • Data spread across multiple locations
  • Business demands Zero downtime for critical ‘Class 1’ applications, such as accounting software

A poll conducted by Managed Objects Inc., published by mar.com interviewed 200 IT mangers also showed that:

  • 82% stated they experienced applications outages in a year
  • Their average downtime was 3-4 hours

Impact of losing critical systems

Listed below are the 4 core effects of having your network go down on you;
